I am inclined to believe in a God of Creation but first must admit that the human male is the best argument against Intelligent Design. Nothing about the behavior, psychology, and sensibilities of men in Eve's Garden can lead any rational thinking man or woman to assume that the creation of the male of our species was an intelligent decision--especially if male domination and the violence that accompanied it was a predictable outcome by an Omnipotent God.
We can be on one side or the other. Either the belief Christians have that our Creator God is a God of Love for all of humankind is false. Or our Creator God was unwilling or unable to account for the fatal flaws and defects in the psychological, intellectual, and hormonal make-up of men in Eve's Garden.
Surely, a Creator God of Love would have provided much more protection for women in Eve's Garden from men who apparently have an affinity for rape, looting, pillage and other forms of violence, destruction, and abuse--especially, for some inscrutable reason, against women and little girls.
No argument about the existence of sin can refute that premise. It simply begs the question, which is not a valid argument at all. And while we are at it, please spare us the argument about the many parallells that exist between males of human mammals and other mammalian males. Though we are mammals, too, supposedly human mammals are on a higher plane than the non-human mammals we dominate. Perhaps humans have not evolved as much as we claim. Although for those who are emotionally wed to Creationism, Intelligent Design, and little of anything else, any thought of evolution, of course, is a non sequitur.
Not surprisingly, men who are the loudest proponents of Intelligent Design and other forms of Creationism have the greatest affinity for "justifiable" violence by men and the assaults by men against women rights that should be seen as the inalienable rights of women. These men are often the worse abusers of the women rights , children, the rest of humankind, and of Eve's Garden--the living planet we call Earth.
Admittedly, some women, though minutely fewer in number, have also taken on the violent behavior and sensibilities of violent men. This, too, also does not invalidate the argument that men are the scourge of humanity and the living planet, Earth. Rather, it offers greater validation of the insidious pollution and influence of the defective human male gene and the failures of our species.
In the final analysis, however, all that happens in Eve's Garden may just be part of The Experiment in which our Experimenting Symbiotic God Of Creation require us to participate. And giving way to the argument about the existence of sin, and the powerful hold the Mutant Lesser Power have over men, perhaps humans ultimately will fail our side of The Experiment and insure human extinction in Eve's Garden.
Selah.
