Pro-Life advocates who insists that every fertilized human egg must be brought to term so that a child is born has a moral responsibility to assist in the development and protection of those children after they are born. A morally sane and knowledgeable person will not value the fertilized egg more than they value the living breathing child. If you value the egg; if you value the zygote; if you value the fetus; how then do you not value the child?
Children mature better emotionally, intellectually, and psychologically when they feel secure. Adults who love children should help children feel secure about who they are. They should help them feel secure in their ability to be self-reliant and to overcome obstacles. This is a difficult task for the child who is born into poverty and other undesirable situation and who is hated and ignored by the people who have insisted on their birth and who are also in a position to provide assistance without making them feel worthless.
Children feel more secure when they feel loved and not alone. They feel more secure when they know that a loving and caring adult will be there for them. As much as any of us are capable of providing it, children should feel free from impending harm. We damage children when they live with emotional, physical, and economic stress and neglect. A child should not find it necessary to harden his or her emotions in order to survive. A hardened child offers diminished value to a society that wants to prosper and grow. Developing children should be able to experience the full range of appropriate emotions available to them without being damaged beyond repair.
Admittedly, one person alone cannot correct nor feel responsible for correcting all the wrongs children encounter in this world. When governments engage in the insane acts of war and genocide, a parent's inability to protect one's children from psychological and physical harm can be a painful gut retching reality. War and other circumstances can severely compromise a nation's ability to protect its children. However, none of that exempt any of us, especially pro-lifers, from the responsibilities each adult has for the protection of our young when and where we are in a position to do so.
Pro-lifers who care about children beyond being anti-abortion advocates must stop electing officials who profess to being pro-life but whose legislative actions are anti-children and anti-life.
Pro-lifer who love children and love life.....
- Do not vote for politicians who vote against equal pay for children's mothers. But on April 9, 2014, every single Republican voted against equal pay for women.
- Do not vote for politicians who cut SNAP benefits on disingenuous conservatives pretenses such as: "kids want packed lunches instead of free school lunch as proof that their parents love them". Yes. This is an actual GOP quote.
- Do not vote for politicians who blame poverty on lazy, black inner city youth.
- Do not vote for politicians who support the War On Women and their children by
i. Promoting the teaching of inaccurate health information.
ii.Banning access to birth control.
iii Cutting off pre-natal services.
iv Letting children go hungry once they are born.
v Promoting laws and policies that trap women in abusive relationships.
vi Forcing women to give birth and then condemning them for being single mothers.
vii Keeping college and job training out of reach.
viii Denying unemployment benefits for parents who lose their jobs.
ix Destroying the public school system so that kids whose parents are not wealthy can not lift themselves out of poverty.
Life involves more that just the process of being born. Quality of life is equally as important. It is time for pro-lifers to stop pretending they care about the life of the child when what they really are is anti-abortion. Being Pro-Life is a moral abomination when you demand that the fertilized eggs be brought to term, but you hate "the little bastards" after they are born.
